Why London

tab
TradeTech 2010 is moving to the ExCel centre in London for its 10th anniversary.

We asked over 60 of the long-only buy-side firms and hedge funds what they want from TradeTech 2010 and they've told us they want the event to move to London. We've also spoken with many other key industry participants and the overwhelming majority share this view.

As always, TradeTech continually strives to meet the needs of the market, so although planning for an event in Paris was well underway, we took the decision to move to London. We did this to maintain the core value of the event – which is to genuinely represent and mirror the needs of the industry in a balanced and neutral environment.

Any questions about the event or the move to London can be directed to the TradeTech team at E:tradetech@wbr.co.uk; or T: +44 (0)20 7368 9465

What you told us:

"...I would send more people and would come myself. I normally attend every 2-3 years, as don’t like leaving London. Might even join a panel."

Head of Trading, Aviva
"...Great idea to move the event to London. Will send considerably more of my traders to it if it is nearby."

Head of European Equity and Currency Trading, StateStreet Global Advisors
"...Happy to speak at TradeTech in London, will probably not join you in Paris."

Head of Trading, Schroders
"...I would like to confirm that I would be a big supporter of moving TradeTech to London for several reasons. Cost efficiency, different members of my team could attend. London is the major market in Europe and it would give Buy side the opportunity to see their main counterparties/brokers in the same trip."

Head of Dealing, Aegon Asset Management
"...London makes a lot of sense to me."

Head of Dealing, Coutts
"...Having TradeTech in London would invigorate it"

Global Head of Trading, Fortis Investments
"...apart from freshening-up the event I’d suggest that you’ll get a larger amount of participants attending overall next year if you move it to London. With smaller desks than in 2008 / 2009 most firms will struggle to have more than 1 attendee out in Paris for 2 – 3 days. Plus, a wider range of buy side people will be able to come to certain parts of event if you held in London!"

Head of Dealing & Transaction Cost Analysis, Baring Asset Management
"...Great idea to move the event to London. Would save money and time spent on travel."

Head of Advisory and Order Fulfillment, Credit Swiss
"...Move TradeTech to London and I will support and attend it."

Head of Trading, Legal & General
"...on the buy side where a lot of desks have consolidated as far as head count is concerned, this would be very much welcomed. I would certainly be able to attend the open forum and still be able to return to the office if needed, as we will be in the process of several launches at the time."

Head of Dealing, River and Mercantile Asset Management LLP
