Ross Whittaker is the manager of Advanced Execution Services (AES) Product at Credit Suisse Securities (Japan) Limited. Before joining Credit Suisse in 2010, Mr. Whittaker worked in various electronic trading roles at Nomura Securities Japan and Lehman Brothers. Prior to coming to Japan in 2005, Mr. Whittaker was a strategy and management consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton in the United States.
Mr. Yoshinori Suzuki is responsible for managing the IT unit at TSE, including IT planning, development, and operation. He also heads the business process re-engineering office for TSE. Mr. Suzuki joined TSE in 2006 and re-designed the IT master plan and the enterprise architecture of TSE. He lead the successful launch of 'arrowhead', the new equities trading system, in 2010 and 'Tdex+', a trading system for options, in 2009. Before joining TSE, Mr. Suzuki was with the system integration vendor NTT DATA for over 30 years and has abundant experience in implementation and project management of mission-critical banking systems.
Tal Cohen is Chief Executive Officer of Chi-X Global Inc. Mr. Cohen previously served as CEO of Chi-X Global’s Americas business, which includes Chi-X Canada and the BVMF joint venture, Chi-FX Brazil. For nearly ten years prior to moving to Chi-X Global, Mr. Cohen held a variety of senior roles with Instinet, including Head of Instinet Canada Limited, Head of U.S. Business Development and Strategy and multiple global product management positions. Before joining Instinet, Mr. Cohen served as M&A Manager at American Express and before that as Senior Business Advisor at Arthur Andersen. Mr. Cohen holds a B.A. from SUNY Albany and an M.B.A. from New York University’s Stern School of Business and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Yoichi Ishikawa is one of the founding members of kabu.com Securities in 1999 where he is currently General Manager of kabu.comPTS. Kabu.com Securities is a subsidiary of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Inc. (MUFG), one of the leading online brokers in Japan. In July 2006, Mr. Ishikawa was involved in the establishment of Japan's first Proprietary Trading System (PTS), which was licensed by the Japanese Prime Minister and uses auction to set its prices, as does TSE. Mr. Ishikawa was ellected to FPL Japan Regional Co-Char January 2010.

Yusuke Sakai is the head of trading department in T&D Asset Management from 2008. He adopted new order management system in 2010, and proactively has utilized PTS and darkpool for electronic trading. Yusuke Sakai was a fund manager of Japanese equity in a Japanese life insurance company. Then, He joined Fuji Security (currently, Mizuho Security) in 2000 and worked as a Japanese equity trader. After the merger, he became the head of cash trading team since 2002. He also served as a facilitation liaison in Mizuho International. In 2005, he became a head of Sales Trading Department. He launched electronic trading team in 2006 and was in charge of Enhanced Equity Trading Department.
Zach is responsible for Program Trading, Electronic Trading and Transition Management across the Pan Asian region. He joined Morgan Stanley in January this year. Prior to that he held a similar role at Deutsche Bank in Hong Kong. Zach has been involved with program and electronic trading for over 15 years and has worked at Dresdner Bank and Merrill Lynch in London, Tokyo and Sydney before. Zach achieved a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Queensland in 1988.
Kazu Ooki is Regional Head of Sales for ICAP Electronic Broking‘s FX Division in Japan and Korea and has also been the representative director for the EBS Dealing Resources’ Japan subsidiary since April 1999. Ooki joined Citicorp/Quotron as Sales Executive of Quotron FX Trader in 1991 and was responsible for the successful launch of the new product in Japan. He was responsible for the MINEX/EBS integration project in 1996, which resulted in an increase in EBS’ USD/JPY market share from 10% to 42% in just two months. From 1997 to 2000, he held the position of Senior Relationship Manager for EBS Japan, responsible for expanding both customer base and trading volume.In 2002, Ooki was appointed Regional Sales Manager for EBS in Japan. In 2005 his remit was extended to include Korea and most recently he has been responsible for the recently signed strategic alliance with Korean Money Brokerage. Ooki has been a member of the Tokyo Foreign Exchange Market Committee since April 2003 and is also the chairperson for the Committee’s sub-committee on public relations.
Shinichiro Shiraki is CEO & CIO of MAI. He has 16 years‘ experience in fixed income, portfolio management and fund management. He joined Asuka Asset Management in 2005. Prior to founding MAI, he was Vice President in UFJ Bank Limited where he was in charge of hedge fund investment. He was also Vice President in UFJ Partners Asset Management, setting up its fund of funds business and assisting with the development of its equity market neutral program from 2000 to 2003. He was Portfolio Manager at UFJ Asset Management from 1999 to 2000. He gained experience in fixed income and investment in alternative assets, such as hedge funds and private equity funds, at UFJ Bank (ex-Sanwa Bank) from 1993. Shinichiro Shiraki is a Chartered Member of the Security Analysts Association of Japan. He is also the Vice Chairman of Alternative Investment Management Association Japan Chapter (AIMA JAPAN). Tomio Sumiyoshi, Managing Director, Greenwich Associates. Tomio consults with investment management, corporate finance, fixed income, and brokerage clients in Japan. Tomio earned his BA and M.Phil from Sophia University (Japan) and a MA/EdM from Columbia. Tomio was a Lecturer at Columbia and worked at investment advisory boutique in NY before founding Paragate Consultants. Tomio has been Head of Greenwich Associates Japan since 1996.

Sadakazu Osaki specializes in regulation of capital markets, and has been studying US and EU regulations in comparison with Japan. He has published several books and articles on Japanese regulation and its reforms mainly in Japanese. In addition to his job in Nomura and in the University of Tokyo, he holds post of Visiting Professor at Waseda Business School. He also holds official positions as member of FSA Financial System Council and METI Industrial Structure Council. His English publications include “Insider Trading: Global Developments and Analysis” (CRC Press, 2009, co-author), “Selected Legal Issues of E-Commerce” (Kluwer Law International, 2002, co-author). He received LL.M. from University of London and University of Edinburgh (with Distinction), and LL.B. from University of Tokyo.
Naoki Kamiyama joined Deutsche Securities in May 2009 as the Chief Equity Strategist for Japan. He has worked as a strategist for over 9 years. Prior to joining Deutsche Securities, Naoki worked at a major securities firm as a Japan equity strategist and has experience at several other securities and investment firms. He has a BA in economics from Hitotsubashi University, an MBA from New York University's Stern School of Business, and a PhD (finance) from the City University, London. Naoki is a Chartered Member of the Securities Analysts Association of Japan and a CFA charter holder.
Joji Watanabe is Head of Asian Equities with responsibility for Sales, Sales Trading and global distribution of Instinet’s suite of products and services in Asia Pacific including Japan. Previously, Mr. Watanabe was managing director and head of Electronic Trading Services at Nomura Securities in Tokyo, and prior to that served as Head of European Sales at Nomura International Plc. in London. Mr. Watanabe holds an MA degree from Claremont Universtity and a BA from Waseda University in Tokyo.

Mike Powell is the Global Head of Enterprise Real-Time Solutions at Thomson Reuters. Having joined the firm in 1995, Mike currently holds global responsibility for real-time solutions including Elektron - Thomson Reuters ultra-high speed real-time network and hosting environment - global aggregated data feeds, hosted and managed low latency market data and news feeds, and quantitative and event driven trading capabilities, including machine readable news services and deep price tick database, storage and analysis. Prior to the formation of Thomson Reuters, Mike has held a number of positions within different parts of the business, including seven and a half years in Asia, returning to London in 2005 to establish the Enterprise Information real-time business unit. Previously, Mike has worked at Nomura International as part of the institutional equities business and Bloomberg LP where he was responsible for Nordic business development. Mike holds a BSc. Hons. degree in Business Management from Aston University. He resides in Middlesex with his wife and three children.
Stefan is the Founder and President of the Hedge Funds Club, Asia's largest network of hedge fund managers and investors. Stefan previously managed the capital introduction group in Japan at J.P. Morgan's prime brokerage where he worked closely with Japanese institutional investors and global alternative investment managers. Before joining J.P. Morgan he was in charge of capital introduction in Japan and Singapore for Bear Stearns' prime brokerage and prior to that worked on marketing and sales of the hedge funds of Bear Stearns Asset Management in Japan and Asia. Before joining Bear Stearns he was managing director of Profit Research Center, a Tokyo-based hedge fund advisory firm, and a board member of Profit Fund, a Liechtenstein-based fund management firm. Stefan is a former member of the executive committee of the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA) Japan and he also served as chairman of its events committee. He is a committee member of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan and chairman of SNS - Centre for Business and Policy Studies in Tokyo. He was educated in Sweden , USA and England and received his MBA from Leicester University in the UK.
As Deputy CTO, Dr Giles Nelson is responsible for product and corporate development at Progress Software. This encompasses setting the vision for the product through organic growth and shaping the company’s acquisition strategy. A significant part of his role is evangelizing this activity to Progress customers, partners and key industry watchers. Previously, as senior director of strategy he was responsible for strategy development of the Progress Complex Event Processing (CEP) product, Apama. He maintained and expanded the company’s market leading position in this space. In that role, he developed global business strategies and managed technology innovation into new markets, as well as bolstering market share in the Capital Markets sector. Nelson is a regular speaker at leading technology and Capital Markets industry events and is published and quoted widely in the media. E. John Fildes is Director of Strategic Development for GETCO Asia, where he is responsible for relationships with exchanges, regulators and market participants across the region as well as driving the company’s high‐frequency trading and market‐making strategies in Asian markets. Previously he was Managing Director and COO, Asia, of Instinet Pacific, responsible for all the operations of Instinet in Asia including Japan. Prior to joining Instinet in 2006 he was with Morgan Stanley in Hong Kong for 10 years where he held positions as the Head of Equity Marketing and Head of Electronic and Program Trading for Asia‐Pacific. Before that he was the Head of MSCI for Asia Pacific and was actively involved in the launch of MSCI futures contracts for Taiwan and Singapore on SIMEX. He is the Co‐Chair of the FIX Protocol Global Steering Committee and a Director of FIX Protocol Limited, and former Board Member of the Stockbrokers Association of Australia. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley Mr. Fildes held various positions in Europe with the Financial Times, Standard and Poor¹s and Reuters. Mr. Fildes studied Law at the University of Liverpool.
Mr York a Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Empyreal Investments Group. Mr York’s has been involved in derivatives and equity trading for over 20 years. In 1992, Mr York commenced trading Managed Accounts. In 1996 Mr York formed his first hedge fund and in 2004 merged with the Empyreal Investments Group. As CEO of the Empyreal Investments Group Mr York manages a diverse group of traders specialising in systematic trading of the global derivative markets. Mr York’s strong background in trading remains a significant factor as he continues to work with Empyreal’s traders in the development and implementation of their systems and methods.
Mr. Quentin Limouzi is currently Head of Advanced Execution for Asia and Japan at BNP Paribas Securities (Singapore) Pte Ltd. He is responsible for the electronic trading platform for cash equities in Asia and Japan.
Quentin joined BNP Paribas in 2007 where he was responsible for the development of electronic trading platform in Japan. After the successful launch there, he spent two years in expanding the platform and execution team in Hong Kong. He has been relocated to Singapore since July 2010 to complete the bank’s equity sales and trading capabilities through to South East Asia.
Prior to joining BNP Paribas, Quentin was with TradingScreen, an American company based in Japan. He was Head of Sales for Asia Pacific as well as a partner of the firm.
Quentin obtained a Master’s degree in Management from EMLYON Business School and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Lyon. He was majoring in Quantitative Analysis.
Toshihiro Atae is Chief Representative for Singapore Exchange (SGX), Tokyo Representative Office. He has spent 22 years in securities industry handling listed derivatives and cash equity for institutional clients. Before joining SGX, he was head of global products sales in Societe Generale Tokyo, Fimat Division.
He was also involved in Managed Futures business while he was in subsidiary of Mitsui & Co.,Ltd.
Born in Frankfurt/Germany in 1977, Matthias started his professional career with Deutsche Boerse AG in 1998, first as a trainee and then served in various roles within the group. Matthias left Deutsche Boerse AG in 2003 for a short half year stint with Monex Securities Inc. in Tokyo, one of the leading Japanese online brokers. After returning to Europe, Matthias joined the Global Markets team at Deutsche Bank, covering Euro-bonds and Autobahn trades for the London desk before taking up a role as ECB watcher for the Japanese Ministry of Finance in Frankfurt.
Matthias joined Osaka Securities Exchange in 2006 to facilitate the international business development of the exchange. Since then he actively engages in promoting and marketing OSE’s derivatives market as well as the Co-location and remote membership initiatives to traditional and non traditional end users globally.
Matthias studied economics and Japanese studies at the Goethe University of Frankfurt; 2003 Matthias received a CDG-fellowship grant by the German parliament, he is married and has one son.
Takeya Kamei heads Autobahn Equity Japan sales, marketing and product delivery at Deutsche Securities.
He joined Deutsche Securities in 2005 where he is responsible for equity electronic trading working closely with buyside clients including HFT clients trading into Japan or other Asian markets, Japanese exchanges, PTSs and vendors. Mr. Kamei is one of the most experienced figures in the industry having previously worked for 6 years in FIX connectivity business development.
Hongsong Chou is Nomura’s Head of Equity Quantitative Analytics and Algorithms, Asia-Pacific, and leads a team of quantitative strategists and developers to develop and implement quantitative models for algorithmic trading and analytics tools for Nomura clients. Hongsong is an expert in global market microstructure studies with recent works in Arrowhead impact on Japan trading, dark pool cross trades analysis and smart order routing algorithm design. Before joining Nomura in 2008, Hongsong worked in the New York and Tokyo offices of Lehman Brothers, where he conducted quantitative research in portfolio optimization and trading cost modeling. Hongsong holds a Ph.D. in Astrophysics from Harvard University.
After 11 years in the investment industry, Oleg founded Shared Research in 2009 to explore the potential of knowledge sharing and crowdsourcing in the field of fundamental company research. He was most recently a mid-small cap portfolio manager at Gartmore Asset Management. Prior to joining Gartmore in 2003, Oleg was an analyst at Fidelity Investments Japan covering multiple sectors (joining in 1998). He received his MBA degree from INSEAD, France in 1997 and a B.A. in Japanese Studies from Far Eastern National University, Russia in 1994. While studying at FENU, he started and managed a company specializing in translation and coordination services from 1992 to 1996.
Ryan has worked for UBS Securities Japan for 6 years primarily as COO for the Cash Equities business. In addition to the day-to-day responsibility of managing and controlling the Cash Equity business, Ryan has also been active in engaging with clients in different fronts. One of the key projects he has been responsible for is finding a solution and scheme to implement CSA in Japan. Over the past 5 years, Ryan has been working closely with the Japan FSA, buy-side companies, sell side brokers and independent research providers to spread the awareness and benefits of CSA and what positive impact CSA could bring to the Japanese Financial market. He has been the educational and opinion leader on the subject of CSA in Japan.
Shuya Iimura joined TSE in 1987. He has assumed the position Director of the Derivatives Department since June 2010. Since joining the company, he has been engaged in business planning, management, and promoting the futures and options market for 16 years. During this time, he has been responsible for establishing the single stock options (kabuOP) market, and also involved in listing numerous new derivatives products including mini TOPIX futures.
Mr Ulf Carlsson joined NASDAQ OMX in 1996. Since 2003 responsible for NASDAQ OMX operations in North Asia & Japan, based in Hong Kong.
